No Oven at Home? Ranveer Brar Shows How to Make Delicious Tawa Pizza

Tawa mushroom pizza is a soft DIY recipe with warm organic base, fresh vegetables, tomato sauce, herbs and melted mozzarella cheese. With the best ingredients and little preparation this recipe could bring the flavour of pizza from the restaurant to the home kitchen.

What ingredients are required for Tawa Mushroom Pizza?

The recipe uses all-purpose flour and wheat flour to make the pizza base. Baking powder, baking soda, curd, oil and salt create the dough.

As a vegetable topping, you are going to need sliced mushrooms, capsicum, onion and tomato. Olive oil, chilli flakes, oregano and fresh basil leaves add flavour to the vegetables.

The homemade tomato sauce requires fresh tomato puree, chopped garlic, onion, oil, sugar, vinegar, salt, oregano and chilli flakes. Grated mozzarella cheese completes the pizza.

These ingredients are readily available in grocery stores and therefore the recipe would be okay for a weekend cooking session or a home snack.

Step 1: Prepare the Pizza Dough

Beginning with one cup of all-purpose flour, one fourth cup of wheat flour, half a teaspoon each of baking powder and baking soda, one tablespoon of oil, salt and three tablespoons of curd in a large mixing bowl, combine with half a teaspoon each of baking powder and baking soda, one tablespoon of oil, salt, and three tablespoons of curd.

Water is added gradually and knead the mixture for 5 to 6 minutes to make it soft and smooth without sticking to your hands.

Cover the dough and let it rest for about one hour. This resting period makes the base easier to roll and prepare.

Step 2: Prepare the Vegetable Topping

In a pan heat two tablespoons of olive oil and add sliced capsicum, onion, mushrooms and tomato. Salt, chilli flakes and oregano are added to the vegetables.

Toss the ingredients until they are mixed well. Set the prepared topping aside while you make the sauce.

Step 3: Make tomato Pizza sauce.

Add one tablespoon of oil to a pan and chop garlic and onion. Cook until the onion becomes translucent.

Add half a cup of fresh tomato puree, half a teaspoon of sugar and vinegar, and salt to taste. Mix everything up and add oregano and chilli flakes.

The sauce must be cooked until most of the moisture evaporates and the mixture thickens. Set it aside for assembling the pizza.

Step 4: Cook the Pizza on a Tawa.

The rested dough should be divided into two or three parts. Roll each portion into a base slightly thicker than a chapati and prick it with a fork.

Place the base on a heated flat pan and cook one side over a low flame. Then turn it over and cook the other.

The base then gets tomato sauce, grated mozzarella cheese and the vegetable topping with a bit of cheese. Add fresh basil leaves and more cheese.

Cover the pan and cook on a low flame until cheese melts and the base is cooked through. Keep the heat low to prevent burning the bottom.

Serve Your Homemade Mushroom Pizza Hot

The pizza will be done when the cheese has melted, so drizzle a little olive oil on the edges and slice.

Ranveer Brar’s tawa mushroom pizza is a good alternative to oven-baked pizza. An easy recipe that can be copied on the go and made with fresh vegetables and homemade sauce and melted cheese is all I need.
