Ananya Panday And Anuv Jain Get Real About Modern Dating: Green Flags, Bad Texting And Why Authenticity Wins

Modern dating is a lot of fun, confusing, and exhausting at the same time– from unread messages and delayed responses to making a first impression on a girl that you meet who can be the best of all time at our age, dating in our digital age has brought up so many difficulties. Actor Ananya Panday and singer-songwriter Anuv Jain recently sat down with each other for a chat on dating, relationships, online profiles, green flags and being all about being yourself. And their candid conversation made clear that good relationships are based on an open conversation and not a list of rules of dating and in the end it’s about authenticity, communication, and respect.

Ananya Panday And Anuv Jain Share Honest Dating Advice, Green Flags And Relationship Insights

Marriage changed Anuv Jain’s understanding of love.

Anuv Jain, who got married last year, spoke openly about how marriage has changed his view on love. A songwriter who does songs that really affect the heartbreak and longing of his listener, Anuv said to me that he is not only more mature emotionally but also spiritually.

Coupled with that, marriage has brought stability to his life, so he writes about love from a position of comfort rather than uncertainty. His “emotional vocabulary” has grown and developed and he has a stronger sense of companionship and long-term love (he said). Instead of simply focusing on loneliness and heartbreak, his music now explores what it really means to have good, healthy love.

First Impressions are Not Always Accurate

When the conversation turned to first impressions, Ananya Panday said that while they influence initial opinions, we rarely tell the whole story about a person.

She thinks people display different sides of themselves over time and getting to know someone can change your perspective of them. A person who seems reserved at first may later turn out to be warm and funny, whereas someone who seems confident at first may have hidden insecurities. Her perspective serves as a reminder not to judge potential partners too quickly.

What They Consider Green Flags In A Relationship

Both celebrities were very close to what they look for in a partner and their answers reflected maturity and not superficial expectations.

Jokes are a big part of Ananya’s personality; she loves to be around people who make her laugh and people who teach her new things or look to think about things. Learning from each other, she says, is what makes a good relationship.

On the other hand, Anuv notices a person’s attitude toward life. He likes people who seem genuinely excited about their future, who have a positive outlook, and who live life with enthusiasm. Optimism and emotional energy, according to him, tell us much more about a person than carefully chosen words.

The Bad Texter Debate

One of the lighter moments of their conversation centered on texting habits.

Ananya jokingly called Anuv a “horrible texter” after he took nearly six hours to reply to one of her messages. As someone who replies quickly and admits to overthinking delayed responses, she initially wondered if he simply wasn’t interested in talking.

But Anuv said he was traveling in Nepal and was on a long flight when the message arrived. What the exchange illustrated was a lesson for all who do online communication: not every delayed reply has an agenda. People are busy, traveling, or unavailable sometimes.

Authenticity Matters On Dating Apps.

When describing online dating profiles, both agreed that authenticity is far more attractive than perfection.

Anuv believes dating profiles should be about a person’s real interests, hobbies, and everyday personality, not in terms of an overly polished version of life. Real photographs and honest descriptions convey a better first impression than heavily edited images or well-curated personas.

Ananya admitted to spending so much time trying to create the perfect social media profile; mulling captions and trying to be funny. And over time she learned that trying to impress others only made her online identity seem less authentic. Today, she prefers to post things that really do make her happy and not seek validation.

Ambition is an attractive green flag

Ananya also explained how her definition of an attractive partner has developed over the years.

For a long time she liked someone who was always available, but now ambition has become such a huge green flag for her.

She said separate lives and personal ambitions allow couples to come together at the end of the day with meaningful conversations and fresh experiences to share. Interestingly, she admitted that someone who is always available now gives her “the ick,” showing how priorities change with maturity.

Don't Pretend To Be Someone Else.

One of the most relatable stories came from Anuv, who recalled trying to impress someone by pretending to enjoy foreign films just because they did.

Although he personally loved Bollywood classics like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he felt pressure to take similar interests in Swedish and Polish cinema. Eventually, he found that he did not need to fake a shared interest.

Healthy relationships are not about being the person you are in a relationship as such, but rather about getting people to be able to introduce them to new things and still be true to themselves in a healthy relationship. When he met his wife eventually he did that when he had to come out to her and let him be honest with his truth instead of pretending he wasn’t someone he wasn’t, and that made all the difference, he said.

The Best dating advice? Keep It Simple.

At the end of the discussion, both gave practical advice for anyone with online dating today.

Anuv encouraged people to upload photos that truly represent who they are and reminded viewers that rejection is a natural part of dating. Not everyone will be interested, and that's perfectly okay.

Ananya said that instead of having multiple conversations at once, it is much better to just have one meaningful conversation at a time if someone really catches your interest.

Their conversation just reaffirms a very old truth that the only thing that is true is that successful relationships aren’t based on perfect profiles or perfectly formed texting habits, or pretending to be someone you’re not. Authenticity, mutual respect, patience, and honest communication are the foundation of relationships that last.
