There is no set amount of time you have to wait after your breakup before you are ready to date again. Some people should be ready in weeks, others, months or longer and you will just be numb and feel at ease with someone new to you.

The question is not how much time has passed but how you feel about the past relationship. When you really want to meet someone new (and not just the good feeling of starting a new relationship to get over the good feelings from the past), dating again can be a good one.
A breakup can bring sadness, anger, confusion, and loneliness. So giving yourself time to work through those feelings can make it easier to approach a new relationship with a clear mind.
There is no fixed timeline
People tend to look for a specific timeline in which they should start dating again. But no one timeline works for everybody.
The length of a relationship, the reason for the breakup, and feelings involved all affect how quickly someone moves forward. A short relationship can be hard to get over, and in turn, one can recover quickly from a much longer relationship.
Instead of counting the days or months, it can be more useful to pay attention to your emotional state.
If you are still thinking about your former partner constantly, hoping they will return or feel overwhelmed by the breakup, you may need more time before starting something new.
Make yourself ask why you want to date?
When will you know if you are ready for dating again? Why do you want to date again?
If the answer is that you genuinely want to meet new people, enjoy someone's company, and explore a possible connection, that can be a healthy reason.
But if you want someone to make you forget your ex, prove that you are desirable, or fill the loneliness left by the breakup, it may be better to wait.
A new person should not have to be a temporary solution to unresolved feelings from a previous relationship.
Are You Still Emotionally Attached To Your Ex?
Not being completely indifferent to an ex is not necessarily required to go on dating again. You can still recall or feel about a past partner and you can move toward that.
It is whether those feelings control your behavior.
If you constantly compare new people with your ex, check your ex's social media or dream of getting back together, starting another relationship will be very difficult.
A new person may also be judged against expectations that you have set up in your previous relationship. That can keep you from seeing the new person for who they are.
When you can think about the past without the past dominating your present is more of a sign of readiness.
Watch Out for A Rebound Relationship
A rebound relationship is when, after a breakup, someone quickly enters a new romantic relationship, often before they have had a chance to take a moment to process the previous one.
Not every relationship that is formed just after a breakup is a rebound. Some people really meet someone new and have a good connection just after the end of another relationship.
Great differences are usually in the reason behind the new relationship.
If the new person is only being used to distract from pain, replace an ex or regain confidence, then the relationship may be emotionally scarred to some degree.
You can take things slowly. You don’t have to label a new connection immediately or make major commitments just because you feel attracted to someone.
Signs You may be ready
And there are a few signs that will suggest that you start dating again.
You may feel more comfortable being alone and no longer feel like being single is something you need to escape. You may also be able to talk about your previous relationship without getting overwhelmed.
Another sign you’re interested in someone is that they’re not someone you can relate to just as much, not because they remind you of your ex-partner.
You should also be willing to communicate honestly about what you want. If you’re looking for something casual, serious or just want to meet people and see where things go, being clear about that can prevent unnecessary confusion.
Take Dating At Your Own Pace
All that means will you be ready to date and not make it a matter of an instant new serious relationship.
You can start by meeting people, going on casual dates and seeing how you feel. There is nothing wrong with deciding that you need more time after a few dates.
As quickly as possible, you don’t want a replacement for your ex. What you want to do is make sure that when you choose someone new, you can give that relationship the attention you want.
Finally, there’s no magic number of weeks or months that will tell you if you are ready to date again. The right time is when you are moving for a new person because you want to and not because you’re running away from the old relationship.
