Workdays can get very busy very quickly. Meetings, deadlines, emails and endless tasks can take up very little time for meaningful conversation, even with loved ones.

But being busy doesn’t mean you’re disconnected from your partner. Sometimes a brief and thoughtful text is all it takes to tell them that you are on their mind.
The message does not need to be long or overly romantic. And simple and genuine words can mean much more than a paragraph of the first few words are written down.
In the first five types of messages you can send your partner during a hectic workday, here are some types of messages you can send to him/her.
1. Tell them you miss them.
The simplest of messages can therefore be the most meaningful.
A quick "Miss you" or "Wish you were here for five minutes" could bring a little connection to the surface in the middle of a busy day.
You don’t need to make it an emotional conversation. It’s enough to tell your partner you think of them and they’ll be remembered.
It is sincerity. A short message works because it is natural rather than forced.
2. Share a Random Thought Or Inside Joke.
Not all relationship texts need to be serious or romantically involved.
If you think of your partner with something funny, send it to them. A joke that you had, an odd one or two you thought about on your commute, something you did in the conversation you had earlier.
For example, you could say, “Just saw someone walking a cat and immediately thought of that story you told me."
Such little messages show your partner comes to mind even when you are distracted by completely unrelated things.
At the context of work-life balance, shared jokes and private references help couples maintain the closeness between them as well as their routines.
3. Give them Something To Look Forward To.
A busy afternoon will be easier if there is something good waiting at the end of it.
You could tell them to have a quiet evening together, have dinner and talk about it.
It does not require a very elaborate date plan.
Even something as simple as “I can’t wait to sit with you after work and hear about your day” can tell your partner that even in the midst of chaos you’re looking forward to seeing them.
As much as they show affection, they also work well when you don’t have to rush to pick up the phone to get that message.
4. Mention something very specific that made you smile.
Generic compliments are nice, but specific ones can feel more personal.
Think about something your partner said or did earlier that made you laugh or smile. That moment shows that you were paying attention.
You could write, “Still thinking about what you said this morning. It made me laugh during my meeting.”
Or, if they had sent you a picture earlier, you could tell them that it brightened your day.
Specific messages make your partner feel noticed, not just complimented. They also remind both of you of little things that you think are really important to you, the things you do in your relationship that make it so unique.
5. Send a No-Pressure Check-In
Sometimes your partner is just as busy as you are. So sending a message that requires an immediate response might seem to be another task to do.
Instead, send a quick check-in that makes it clear they don’t have to reply immediately.
For example: “Thinking of you between meetings. No need to reply, just wanted you to know."
Another could be, “Hope your day is going okay. Take care of yourself.”
The message conveys care without the pressure to continue a conversation. Your partner will read it, smile and get back to work knowing you were thinking about them.
Small messages can keep couples connected in the end.
Busy schedules are normal in adult relationships. There will be days when both partners are buried in work and barely have time to speak.
That does not mean emotional connection has to go away for the day.
A short message can be a small reminder that your partner is still part of your thoughts, even when you are elsewhere.
The important thing is not how frequently you text or how romantic each message sounds. It is whether the message feels genuine.
And occasionally just saying “Miss you”, a little bit of inside jokes, a reminder about dinner or just saying “Hope you’re doing well” can help to warm up a crazy day.
